Teaching

Dr. Soaries is a seasoned academician and has dedicated much of his career to excellence in education serving as a professor, advisor, and mentor in both traditional and online university settings. He is renowned for his engaging, student-centered teaching approach and his ability to relate complex topics to real-world issues across cultures and disciplines. His students consistently praise his engaging style, clarity of instruction, and genuine care for their academic and personal growth.

 

In all of his teaching roles, Dr. Soaries prioritizes the development of emotionally intelligent leaders. He challenges students not only to think critically but to lead with compassion and ethical responsibility. Whether preparing first-year undergraduates or advising doctoral candidates, he encourages a lifelong pursuit of knowledge, self-awareness, and community impact. His interdisciplinary lens allows students to connect theory with practice and to see education as a transformative force in their lives and communities.

Lead the Harte Honors College and Interdisciplinary Studies Program while teaching courses in Humanities, Logic, World Civilization, and Organizational Communication. Received the Joseph A. Gore Teaching Excellence Award in 2023 for exemplary instruction and student impact.

 

Adjunct Professor, Honors College

University of Alabama – Tuscaloosa, AL (2023)

Taught advanced interdisciplinary humanities courses focused on critical thinking and cultural analysis. Supported student growth through high-impact academic engagement within the Honors College.

 

Assistant Professor / Adjunct Instructor, Humanities Department

Gordon State CollegeBarnesville, GA (2017–2019 / 2019–Present)

Designed and taught interdisciplinary communication and humanities courses with an emphasis on African-Diaspora perspectives and qualitative research methods. Served as a GAP Program advisor and certified D2L/Ecore online instructor.

Consultant & Liaison

Clark Atlanta University – Atlanta, GA (2015)

Facilitated collaboration between HBCUs and the Salzburg Global Seminar through a Global Citizenship Summit involving 36 institutions. Led coordination among faculty, students, and international educators to promote global awareness and intercultural dialogue.

Senior Lecturer, Doctor of Business Administration Program

Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University – Cleveland, OH (2003–2008)

Taught ethnographic and qualitative research methods to doctoral students and mentored them in designing practice-based dissertations. Recruited and advised nonprofit leaders, while presenting and conducting research alongside faculty.
