Dr. Soaries served as an ethnographer at the University of Washington’s School of Public Health and Community Medicine, where he worked on a NICHD-funded project titled “Pentecostalism & Utilization of HIV/AIDS Treatment Services in Central Mozambique” (Grant #1 R21 HD055841-01). This study focused on the intersection of religion and public health, using qualitative and ethnographic methods to explore how Pentecostal churches influenced the use of HIV/AIDS treatment services.
